Lóase is located in the private and gated community of Costambar Beach, about 30 minutes from Puerto Plata International airport (POP). We are located a short 10 minute taxi ride from the center of Puerto Plata, 15 minutes from the Playa Dorada Plaza and Golf Club and 40 minutes from Sosua.

How far are you from the beach?

The main part of the beach is about a 5 minute walk from the resort. Here, you will find chairs, umbrellas, interesting local and foreign run beach bars, restaurants and souvenir shops. An excellent place to relax and meet some of our colorful local characters.

Do you have Internet/Phone Service?

We offer wireless DSL Internet service in our lobby and bar areas. A phone is available in the bar for local calls and we also have another phone offering free long distance calls to the US, Canada and Puerto Rico.

What extras do you offer?

In addition to the amenities already listed, we provide a pool table and exercise equipment. Tennis is available nearby for a nominal fee. For those new to the Dominican Republic we can arrange a guided tour of the local Hot Spots including transportation and a bilingual driver. Just check with us a day before you want to go.

As with any fine establishment where service is first-rate, tipping at the end of your stay is appreciated but not mandatory.

Are Passports and/or Visas required?

As of January, US and Canadian citizens traveling to the Dominican Republic will be required to carry a passport to enter the country. For travelers from outside the US and Canada, please check with your nearest Dominican Embassy or Consulate regarding the requirements for your country.

What else do I need?

Every tourist entering the country must purchase a tourist card. There is a charge of $10 for the tourist card and must be purchased when you enter the country. An airport departure tax of US$10 is charged when you leave (many scheduled airlines include this fee in the price of the ticket). These charges MUST be paid in US Dollars. Bring plenty of sunscreen.

Our atmosphere is casual and tropical attire is the norm. Shorts, comfortable shirts and sandals are the basic attire. We do suggest one change of casual dressy clothes if you plan to go to the casinos or some of the more upscale restaurants.

What happens if I do not speak Spanish?

If your Spanish is somewhat rusty or you can’t even order a beer, don’t worry. Everyone always seems to find a way to communicate with very little difficulty. We also have bilingual staff on hand to answer all your questions.

Are there Taxis available at the airport? Is airport pickup service available?

Airport taxis are readily available on arrival at Puerto Plata. We can also arrange to have to have you picked up by our local taxi service. Currently, the price is about US$40. Just email us your flight schedule and we will make the arrangements for you.

What do I do for transportation?

Taxis are available at the hotel 24 hours a day. Taxis can also be picked up in town. For the more adventurous, try the local form of Dominican Taxi, a “motoconcho”. Most locals use these motorcycle taxis. For a nominal fee, they will take one or two people on their motorcycle. Just tell them where you where to go and you will be delivered. An experience NOT to be missed!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does Lóase accept major credit cards?

Due to restrictive bank and credit card company charges, we do not accept credit cards at this time. We recommend that you pay your bills with either cash or travelers checks. Cash is readily available from ATM’s in Puerto Plata. Cash is paid out in Dominican Pesos and the maximum that can be withdrawn on a daily basis is approximately the equivalent of US$250

What is the best currency to bring?

Here in the Dominican Republic, the U.S. Dollar is the easiest to exchange and receives the most favorable exchange rate.
